Kupramine Algicide and Aquatic Weed Control Agent
Kupramine is an algae and aquatic weed treatment containing copper chelate. The benefit is that algal species are much more susceptible to copper chelate than copper sulphate. Copper sulphate will precipitate in the water body which makes it much less effective while chelated copper will stabilise and be readily available to act on algae. Previous tests on rice paddocks have demonstrated efficiency with application rates of 5 litres per hectare versus 6-12 kg per hectare application rates for copper sulphate. It is highly effective against invasive weeds such as Elodea and also commonly used to treat Hydrilla. Care should be taken when using any algaecide product, particularly if there are fish in the system.
