Qwik-Zyme L is great product for grease control in sequencing batch reactors (SBR), wastewater treatment plants, equalization tanks, food and egg processing plants. It is the top-of-the-line pump station grease degrader.
This is not a bacterial product, but rather a high tech saliva. This means that Qwik-Zyme L uses three types of lipid degrading enzymes to provide dramatic hydrolysis of fat, oil, grease (FOG) and resulting fatty acids. Qwik-Zyme L will degrade the FOG, and your good bacteria will eat it. Qwik-Zyme L can degrade a range of fatty acids such as oleic, steric, palmitic as well as fish oils, triglycerides, milk, and animal fats. No more grease, no more foam, and no more backups.
Why is it so important to control fats, oils and grease?
In the winter months, when water temperatures are cold, naturally occurring bacteria can’t break down FOG and the fatty acids that build up in the wastewater plant. These fatty acids are then taken up by filaments like Microthrix Parvicella and Nocardia which allows them to float and foam. Qwik-Zyme L breaks up these fatty acids and cuts off the filament’s food source. Qwik-Zyme L grease degrader works well with Foam Buster and is used in all types of municipal and industrial applications. It is either metered or poured into the front end of the wastewater process and should not be sprayed into the air.

Qwik-Zyme L Benefits:

Pump stations and sewer lines: Initial dose – 1 litre per 400,000 litre per day flow three times for the first week. Maintenance dose – 1 litre per 400,000 litre flow per week.
Microthrix Parvicella foam & WWTP grease control: Initial dose – 1 lire per 400,000 litre per day flow for 30 days. Maintenance dose – 500ml – 1 litre per 400,000 litre flow for next 30 days.
Nocardia foam control: Dose at 2-4 times the rate for Microthrix Parvicella depending on severity. Follow guide below;
Guide for Nocardia removal:
Step 1 – Waste 20-30% of solids (e.g if MLSS is 3000, waste to 2100-2400ppm)
Step 2 – Add Qwik-zyme L to the head of the plant (double dose if possible). This will break down FOG making it easier for bacteria to digest.
Step 3 – Add Foam Buster to the head of the plant or aeration basin (double dose if possible). This will stimulate and activate bacteria to specifically break down FOG that is feeding the Nocardia.
Step 4 – Keep MLSS low for 2-3 sludge ages
Step 5 – Rebuild the biomass
Optional – add Bug On A Rope to pumping stations to start the FOG degradation process sooner.
